Mesopod closed beta: what you should know

Last updated: 2026-10-06

Mesopod is in a closed beta. This page says what that means in plain terms.

What runs where. A small agent, the outpost, runs inside a Kubernetes cluster on your machine. It opens an outbound connection to our platform at mesopod.cloud and nothing on your network is reachable from the internet because of Mesopod. Your apps run on your machine. Their data lives on your disk, in storage the cluster provisions or in directories you explicitly register.

What we see. The platform stores what you asked it to run (which apps, which versions, the settings you entered) and what the outpost reports back (whether each app is healthy, resource usage, the machine's LAN address, and the directory paths you registered). Secrets you enter are encrypted before they are stored. They are not hidden from the platform, though: when an app deploys, the platform decrypts that app's secrets in memory and seals them to your outpost's key, so only your outpost can open them on the way to your machine and after. We do not receive your app data, the contents of your volumes, or your files. We do not look inside your apps.

Your account. You sign in with an email address and password on our identity service (Zitadel). We store the email address and name you gave us. Accounts are invite-only during the beta.

No promises about uptime. The platform may be down for deploys, bugs, or maintenance without notice. When it is, your apps keep running on your machine; you just cannot manage them from the console until it is back.

We may reset things. During the beta we may reset accounts or platform state. If that happens, apps already running on your machine keep running, but you would need to add your cluster again and redeploy to manage them from the console.

Your data can be lost. There are no automated backups yet. Changing an app's version or configuration redeploys it. Before you move real data onto Mesopod, take a copy. The snapshot guide shows how.

Leaving. You can remove Mesopod from your machine at any time; the install guide's "Removing Mesopod" section lists the exact commands and what each one deletes. Ask us in Discord or by email and we will delete your account and everything the platform stored about your clusters.

Cost. Free for personal use during the beta, and we intend to keep personal use free after it.
